One former Liverpool man has been released by Premier League-bound Burnley.
After one season in the Championship, the Clarets secured immediate promotion to the top flight last month, joining Leeds United as one of the 19 confirmed sides that will play in the Premier League next season.
In helping Burnley secure promotion, manager Scott Parker has now won promotion to the Premier League with a third different club after achieving the feat with Fulham and Bournemouth.
The former Fulham midfielder oversaw another remarkable season, with Burnley going on a 33-game unbeaten run, last tasting defeat in the league over five months ago at Millwall.
With their season now over, the Clarets are planning for life in the Premier League.
They have announced the players they intend to keep and those they will let go in the coming days.
Among their released players is former Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey.
Shelvey spent just four months at Turf Moor after joining Scott Parker’s side in January.
He made four appearances for Scott Parker’s side, but the club has announced he will leave when his contract expires on 30th June.
Shelvey was one of Rafa Benitez’s last signings at Liverpool?
He made 69 competitive appearances for the Reds, scoring nine times.
After spending three seasons at Anfield, the hard-working, tenacious attacking midfielder was sent on loan to Blackpool before being sold to Swansea the following season.
From Swansea, he moved to Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, Çaykur Rizespor and most recently, Eyüpspor before his most recent move to Burnley in January.
